HISTORY
Human Performance Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt nonprofit organization. The mission of The Foundation is to support academic development, physical development and the overall well-being of at risk and disadvantaged children of all backgrounds by offering them the opportunity to develop as whole individuals.
Human Performance Foundation is an organization that was envisioned by Kez McCorvey, Dave Plettl and Adam Faurot. Combined, these gentlemen have participated at all levels of play, from collegiate to Olympic to the professional sports. It was only after years of professional experience and working with young athletes that they were able to see the common thread that ties the greatest athletes – of all ages – together: Character.
This single word – Character – began to drive their desire to combine the most advanced physical training available with character development. Today, the effort to help young athletes train for the field of play and be equipped to handle the challenges in the game of life continues to grow.
According to a national survey, 96% of parents indicated they believe educating students about nutrition and exercise is important.
CHAMPIONS Program
The CHAMPIONS Program was designed for implementation on school campuses for grades K-12. This program meets the standards established by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). The focus of this program is to incorporate sports performance training principles as a foundation for increasing
the fitness capacity of each child by providing an enthusiastic, active, and engaging atmosphere. The overall outcome of the program is to engage students in developmental physical activity, which leads to the development of healthy habits and improves life-long wellness. Students also learn about the benefits of good nutrition and how to make healthier lifestyle choices. Consistent with the key component of all Human Performance Foundation programs, character development is also part of the Human Performance Foundation program.
Academic achievement of athletes is nearly one full letter grade higher than non-athletes.
